A poem by Clare Fallows to accompany the Christmas Magic card
It's Christmas Eve, and the wind is icy, while in the sky, dark snowclouds loom!
But indoors all's snug and a fire is roaring. The flames illumine a cosy room.
Beside the fireplace hang empty stockings, no festive baubles adorn the tree.
But presents lie piled beneath its branches; exciting promise of what's to be!
On a table glows a glass of sherry, and there's a plate with a crisp mince pie,
And Meg is stretched in a peaceful slumber, before the fire where she loves to lie!
She's sleeping soundly but suddenly wakens, aroused by a noise, she looks around.
To left and right; she did hear something. Or was she dreaming? What was that sound?
Now here comes Jazz, to the tree he runs. From the pile he snatches a tempting gift!
It could be a bone, but try as he may, that string and paper he cannot shift!
But Meg's alert, for again she's hearing those strange little sounds, and she turns her head.
Something stirred at the edge of her vision; she's certain she glimpsed just a hint of red!
Now all's been transformed by Christmas Magic! The stockings are brimming, the tree is bright!
And Jazz's present is suddenly opened! He barks with joy, amazed at the sight!
But that's not all; the glass on the table's been drained, and a bite has gone from the pie.
And look through the window, you'll gasp in wonder, as down from the clouds the snowflakes fly!
Christmas once more has worked its magic, bringing pleasure to one and all!
Hear the carols, enjoy the presents; relish the warmth as the snowflakes fall!
