About Us

Firstly let me explain who the “I” and “We” referred to on the website are.

“I” am Colette Turner. I am 50 years old and live in Sefton, near Liverpool with my two dogs, Kerrie and Ross (the models for Meg and Jazz).

I have owned dogs all my life and have shown them in obedience (reaching Championship C with Corrie) and working trials (reaching WDEx with Greg). I have also done some agility but – just for fun. I don’t show my dogs now but couldn’t imagine a world without them – they are my best friends. We all love pottering about the garden – I do the hard work and they “help” and – we love long walks on Crosby beach.

Canine Cards was my idea, I own the business and have all intellectual property rights in the website and the animations. But Canine Cards would not function without “the team”.

“We” are – me and the team:

The idea for Canine Cards started last year (2005).
I was looking for a site that specialised in good quality animated e-cards of dogs because I wanted to send one to a friend. On searching the internet, I couldn’t find any sites so I decided to do something about it and start one. Canine Cards was registered in February 2006.

I knew that I would need a website, I knew that I would need animators and I knew I would need money to set everything up!!!!

Sorting who would work on the website was easy. I had worked with Kate and Brava Design on a three previous website projects connected to my work so knew that Brava could design an excellent website, would deliver and would be very supportive.  It was Kate that then introduced me to IXIS - the programmers.

The animation was more difficult. I knew nothing about animation and even less about animators – I spoke to a couple of companies but somehow we didn’t “click” and I was beginning to worry. However, I am a great believer in fate and a few weeks later I met Will at a meeting between Mocha and the company that I work for (Mocha were making a video for us). On the way out I happened to say “you don’t know any animators do you” to which Will replied “yes – us”!! And so we began to work together.

Eventually two more animators joined the team - Steve Jones of Sieving Nectar who now works on the rotoscoped Meg and Jazz and Agility collections and -- Alison Crawford who is my cartoon animator.

I have been very fortunate to meet, and work with both Brava for the website and Mocha for the initial animations and -- Steve and Alison for the more recent animations – long may “the team” continue!!!!

Setting up Canine Cards has been the best thing I have ever done. The last year has been VERY hectic and very costly but lots of fun, and launching the site on 3 July was such an exciting day.

Seeing all the ideas come to fruition and finally appear as a live website was amazing.

I hope you enjoy the site as much as I have enjoyed developing it.
